In the article by Denhof we get to know about the six-stage model for addressing stress of working in a correctional atmosphere. The six stages are namely informing, assessing, evaluating, planning, implementing and re-assessing. There are a number of stressors which remains at play when a person is working in the correctional environment. The stressors can be operational stressors, organizational stressors, traumatic stressors which can lead to declined health and functioning, dysfunctional ideology and behaviour, negative personality changes. The certain assessment tools mentioned in the article are Corrections fatigue status assessment, depression, anxiety and stress scale, depression danger scale, life events checklist for DSM etc., I believe that the implementation stage and re-assessing stage are the most important stages.
